Overview

Family medicine has become one of the most portable — and most in-demand — careers in medicine. GP shortages now span the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Gulf and the USA, which means a qualified GP genuinely has the pick of markets, and real leverage on pay, location and lifestyle.

We place GPs at every stage, from newly-CCT and MRCGP holders to established partners and family-medicine consultants, and we match you to the market that fits your goal — whether that's the fastest route to residency, the highest earnings, or a particular lifestyle.

Where GPs are in demand

New Zealand — the fastest route to residency. General practice is a Green List Tier 1 role, so a vocationally-registered GP with a job offer can apply for a Straight to Residence visa. UK, Irish, Australian, Canadian, US and South African GPs also benefit from a comparable-health-system route that speeds up registration.
Canada — the highest earnings. Family physicians are in acute demand, with strong income and provinces such as Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan actively recruiting through Practice-Ready Assessment and healthcare-targeted Express Entry.
Australia — big shortage, fast fellowship. MRCGP / CCT holders can reach fellowship in around six months via the Competent Authority pathway. The one thing to plan for is the 19AB moratorium — new international GPs generally work in a Distribution Priority Area (rural / regional) to access Medicare, which is where the incentives sit.
United Kingdom & Ireland — a shared crisis. Both face well-documented GP shortages, with strong salaried and partnership routes and, in Ireland, assistant-with-view-to-partnership roles. GP Register / GMC and IMC / ICGP recognition supported.
The Gulf — tax-free packages. Family-medicine consultant posts across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, typically tax-free with housing, flights and schooling. SCFHS, DHA and DataFlow handled.

Registration routes by country

United Kingdom — GMC full registration and entry on the GP Register (via CCT, or the CEGPR / portfolio route for experienced GPs), with Skilled Worker visa sponsorship where needed.
Ireland — Irish Medical Council (IMC) registration and ICGP recognition of your training.
Australia — AMC verification, then RACGP or ACRRM fellowship (a ~6-month PEP for MRCGP / CCT holders via the Competent Authority pathway) and AHPRA registration.
New Zealand — Medical Council of NZ (MCNZ) registration within a vocational (GP) scope, supported by RNZCGP.
Canada — provincial college licensure via a Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA), working toward CCFP certification.
The Gulf — DataFlow primary-source verification and SCFHS / DHA / MOH licensing.

What you'll need

  • A recognised GP / family-medicine qualification (MRCGP, CCFP, FRACGP / FRNZCGP or equivalent)
  • Eligibility for GP registration in your target country — or the willingness to complete it (we guide you)
  • Evidence of English-language competence (IELTS / OET) where required
  • Relevant primary-care / general-practice experience

Relocation & support

Moving your practice — and often your family — across the world is a big step. We handle the whole journey with you: registration and fellowship, English testing, visa and, where relevant, Certificate of Sponsorship, plus the practical side of settling in. Our service is free to you, because the hiring practice or health system pays our fee.

Common questions

Which country is fastest for a GP to get residency?
New Zealand. General practice is a Green List Tier 1 role, so a vocationally-registered GP with a job offer can apply for the Straight to Residence visa — permanent residency from the outset rather than years of temporary visas.
Do I need MRCGP to work as a GP in Australia?
MRCGP with CCT is the smoothest route — it typically qualifies you for a ~6-month PEP to RACGP fellowship via the Competent Authority pathway. Other routes exist for GPs with different qualifications; we map the exact one for you.
What is the DPA / moratorium in Australia?
Under section 19AB, new internationally-trained GPs generally need to work in a Distribution Priority Area — typically rural or regional — for a period to access Medicare billing. It's where most of the opportunities and financial incentives sit, and we are upfront about it from day one.
Do you place salaried GPs and partners?
Yes — salaried GP roles, partnership and assistant-with-view positions, and family-medicine consultant posts, on permanent and fixed-term contracts. We do not place locum work.
