Paediatrics Recruitment
Paediatrics jobs
in the NHS
From general paediatrics and neonatology to community child health and paediatric sub-specialties, Ava Medical connects consultant and SAS paediatricians with permanent NHS posts across England, Wales and Scotland.
About the specialty
Paediatrics careers in the NHS
Paediatrics spans acute inpatient care, neonatal intensive care, community child health and a wide range of sub-specialties — with steady NHS demand for both general and special-interest paediatricians.
Training pathway
Training runs through the RCPCH programme with MRCPCH examinations and sub-specialty / special-interest development. CCT or CESR plus GMC Specialist Register entry is required for consultant posts.
Typical employers
Paediatric consultants and SAS doctors are employed across teaching hospitals, district general hospitals, neonatal units and community child health services. General paediatrics with neonatal cover is the most common DGH model.
Grades we recruit
We recruit Consultant (CCT or CESR), Specialty Doctor (SAS) and Associate Specialist paediatricians, and assist senior registrars near CCT. All posts are substantive and permanent.
Roles we recruit
Paediatric sub-specialties
Whether your interest is acute general paediatrics, neonatology or a tertiary sub-specialty, we match you to the right unit and rota.
General paediatrics
Acute inpatient and outpatient general paediatrics with neonatal cover — the core DGH consultant model.
Neonatology
Level 1–3 neonatal units and NICU posts, including dedicated neonatal consultant roles in tertiary centres.
Community child health
Neurodisability, safeguarding and developmental paediatrics — community consultant and SAS posts in steady demand.
Paediatric sub-specialties
Cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, oncology and more — sub-specialist roles in regional and tertiary centres.
